Shuri Himejima was a member of the Himejima Clan. She is the deceased wife of Barakiel and mother of Akeno Himejima, as well as the aunt of the next heir of the Himejima clan; Suzaku Himejima.
Appearance[]
Shuri is a beautiful woman who has long, flowing black hair and light brown eyes, as she is noted to closely resemble her niece, Suzaku Himejima and her daughter Akeno (though with different eyes colors and a less well endowed body)
Personality[]
Shuri is a very kind and compassionate woman, despite being a member of the Five Principal Clan, she did not held prejudice towards supernatural beings such as the Fallen Angel Barakiel, having healed his injuries when they first met seeing him as a good person and eventually fell in love with him despite being considered heresy by the Himejima Clan. Her determination to be with Barakiel was so great, despite objection from her family and also the consequence of execution for violating their religious laws, she chose to marry Barakiel, birthing their daughter Akeno while leaving her clan of her own volition.
She is extremely doting and affectionate towards both her daughter Akeno and niece Suzaku, the latter whom she remained on close terms even after she left the Himejima household. Knowing that she will not remain safe for long given the Himejima's strict adherence to their Shinto religious laws and system, Shuri accepted her fate with her only concern being Akeno's safety. In their last meeting, Shuri affectionately hugged Suzaku, praising her for her immense kindness, proudly believed that Suzaku will never lose her kindness regardless of the hardships she may face as the next heiress of the Himejima Clan.
History[]
During Volume 3, in a flashback that along with the help of her niece Suzaku, she attempted to test Akeno's compatibility with the blessing and abilities of the Himejima Clan, becoming sad and despaired over the fact that Akeno may never receive the patronage of the Himejima Clan. She tried telling Suzaku to take care of Akeno in case something happened to her, but decided against it as she didn't want to involve Suzaku in the matters concerning her and Akeno. After hearing Suzaku's declaration about her desire of wanting to return Shuri and Akeno to the family, she told Suzaku that her kindness would never change.
Years later, she was killed by assassins who were sent to kill Barakiel, on the same day that Suzaku inherited the Sacred Bird.

Spiritual Flame Manipulation: As one of the Himejima Clan who've been blessed by the Shinto God of Fire, Shuri have spiritual power over the Fire Phase, one of the Five Elements, letting her create and control spiritual flames
Magic: Shuri has been trained in using Shinto magic, able to use it to purify evil spirits.
